Cats Benefit From a Diet of Real Food Ingredients

Cats are what we call obligate carnivores. An obligate carnivore is an animal that must eat other animals in order to thrive, because of its genetic makeup. They may eat other foods, such as vegetables, grains or fruit, but they have to eat meat as the main source of their nutrients.

Hold on then, if they need to primarily eat meat then why are there so many carbohydrate ingredients in the bag of dry food you bought? It’s pretty simple, the carbs are not there for nutrition, they are there to make that dry kibble shape so it can sit on a shelf and not spoil. Not so great, eh? We thought so too.

So what foods can you expect to see in our cat meals?

  • Beef, chicken and tuna: we purchase our meats from restaurant suppliers in order to ensure that every meat was processed and packaged according to human food safety regulations. This does not happen with commercial kibble or canned food, their cheap waste meat is not fit for human consumption.
  • Sweet potato, cabbage and carrots are added in to get a few more vitamins and minerals from real food ingredients and are definitely play a supporting role to the main ingredient, the meat or fish protein.
  • Butter and fish oil is added not only for the essential fatty acids the feline kind require but because it is so highly palatable to them.
