Before Tom&Sawyer, Kristin spent over 15 years as an investigative & forensic accountant. Then one day she became mom to a Yorkie-Poo named Sawyer and her world changed. Sawyer refused to eat kibble (who can blame him?) and every meal time was stressful for all. Kristin decided to research the pet food industry and realized Sawyer was a very smart dog trying to tell her something. As a result, Sawyer’s plate only holds fresh prepared meals and he now loves meal times!
With the knowledge that there were few options available to purchase fresh food for cats and dogs comparable to what she was cooking for Sawyer, in late 2014, Kristin set out on the quest to bring Tom&Sawyer pet meals to life. Assembling a team including veterinarians, chef consultants, food scientists, and animal nutritionists, Kristin has driven the creation of Tom&Sawyer’s line of pet meals and treats to promote better health for your furry family member.

Peter is a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader who has experience across a wide range of business, political and charitable involvement.
Whether as a senior executive in a large corporate environment like IBM, or as an entrepreneur (founder and executive) launching ThoughtWire (enterprise IoT), Tom&Sawyer (global leading pet nutrition), Alexynn Strategy (business development and political advisory), Alexynn Build (commercial design/build construction services), and Alexynn Entertainment (global entertainment artist management), Peter brings innovation, disruption, and a strong network of C-suite relationships.
Peter is a passionate musician and cook, loves all types of sports (especially golf), and dedicates a lot of time to helping others. He is most proud of being a great husband to Kristin and dad to Sawyer, our 10lb Yorkie Poo who is the inspiration for this business and our plunge into improving pet health!
Director of Culinary Services
Mischa ensures that everything produced at Tom&Sawyer is of the best quality and safety that you can (and want to) eat it yourself. He has several years of experience heading up many of Toronto’s well respected restaurants.
He is Red Seal chef with a diploma in Culinary Management from St. Lawrence College.
In his spare time he loves to be outdoors enjoying hikes with his Springer Mix, Abagail.

Kim is a Boston native who has been cooking since she was 15 years old. She brings to Tom&Sawyer culinary experience from working in many of Toronto’s top restaurant and catering kitchens. Kim holds and important dual role at Tom&Sawyer as the bridge between our customer service and culinary teams to ensure a seamless experience for both customer and our team members.
Kim is a proud mother of two rescue cats, Blue and Mango.
Retail Supervisor & Marketing Specialist
Nikita graduated from the Film and Television Production Program at Humber College in 2012 but has been working with dogs for over 5 years now. She has dabbled in a bit of everything from dog walking, grooming, training and has been continuously growing her knowledge of pet nutrition over the past year at Tom&Sawyer while being a valued member of the marketing team.
Nikita also has an adorable little bunny named Nibs!

Hannah Godfrey, BScH | MSc Companion Animal Nutrition
Hannah has years of experience studying and working directly with companion animals to better understand metabolism, nutrition, obesity, and the overall health of companion animals. Hannah’s research has focused on preventing obesity in cats through the use of nutritional supplements and individualized diets. Hannah has worked with several animal nutrition companies to synthesize clinical research and nurture owners’ understanding of animal nutrition.
Hannah holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and a Master of Science degree in Companion Animal Nutrition from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. She is continuing with her animal nutrition education as a student in the PhD program at the Ontario Veterinary College.
Hannah has two purr-fect boys, Benny (pictured) and Balthazar!

Tracey’s first career was working in the corporate world specializing in business development and senior relationship management. Now engaged in her second career, Tracey teaches at Humber College, our industry leaders of tomorrow! In 2017, Tracey adopted Missy, a 6lb senior toy poodle. Missy has some pre-existing health concerns and no teeth, so finding the best diet for her for a happy healthy life lead to the discovery of Tom&Sawyer! Working as Client Ambassador and Nutrition Team member, Tracey brings a diversified background to the Tom&Sawyer team!

Da’wit is from Eritrea East Africa and assist the Tom&Sawyer culinary team with many aspects of food preparation and production support. Da’wit is a man of many hidden talents, as he once was a medical lab technician! He is also a dedicated, loving father, and when Da’wit is not working hard in the kitchen, he is taking care of his young daughter.

Jim is a native East Coaster who has been a talented hair stylist and colour technician in Toronto for over 20 years but we all know this plays second fiddle to Dexter, his beautiful Australian Shepherd. Jim is an amazing pet parent and he can be seen driving around the city with Dexter as co-pilot. Tom&Sawyer are lucky to have this duo delivering our pet meals subscription orders. Watch out for them around the city!
Dr. Kelly Swanson
Advisor & Animal Nutrition Consultant
Kelly is an expert in companion animal nutrition, nutrigenomics, and microbiomics. He has served as a Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for over 15 years and has developed an internationally recognized laboratory focused on improving the health and nutritional status of pet dogs and cats through dietary intervention. He has unique expertise and knowledge in the areas of ingredient testing, gastrointestinal health and microbiome, and obesity. Over the past 15 years, he has collaborated with and served as a private consultant for numerous pet food companies.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Range Sciences from North Dakota State University and Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He even has an adorable little sidekick named Kaiser (the boston terrier) who is a very eager ingredient tester!
Animal Nutrition Consultant, SB Nutrinnov
Serge is an agronomist expert in animal nutrition with a career spanning 31 years in the animal nutrition industry, including 25 years working with several pet food companies. His unique expertise in nutrition encompasses pet food formulation, knowledge of ingredients, product developments and technical training (teaching).
Serge holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Nutrition and Executive Development Course Mini-MBA from McGill University.
